About Us
Smart Woman Securities is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating women about the world of finance. We accomplish this task through instructive seminars, mentoring initiatives, and meetings with successful investors such as Warren Buffett. SWS is one of the few female-only investment organizations featuring undergraduate women in the United States. Our mission is to endow every woman with the proper skills and training in order to successfully invest on her own. Currently there are 25 chapters operating at various universities in the United States. At our chapter, we have taken the initiative in trying to engage women about the various fields within finance. We try to open females' eyes to the endless opportunities that are within the finance arena while giving them the confidence to succeed.

We have a ten part lecture series that each member must go through in order to be initiated into the organization. This lecture series serves as an introduction to finance as well as offering more in-depth topics so each member's knowledge is on the same level. In order to achieve membership, each woman is also required to complete an investment project, where each woman is required to look up various metrics, financial records, and competitors for a particular company. This ultimately allows them to develop a company profile from where they determine whether or not this would be a good investment opportunity. During this project, we have the women track the company within the news. This year our chapter has many events planned such as company site visits, guest speaker events, and resume review, Excel usage, and interview preparation workshops. Ultimately we want every member to feel confident walking into an interview and be able to take what they learn in the classroom and be able to apply it in the workforce.
